1. Check whether the glass plug and piston core are matched with the separatory funnel. If they are not matched, they often leak or cannot be operated at all. If you want to use a non-matching separatory funnel, you must first test whether it is suitable for use and leaking after assembling, and then use it after confirming that it can be used.
2. Apply a thin layer of grease on the piston core, such as Vaseline (note: do not apply it into the piston hole), insert the plug core into the piston, rotate it for a few turns to distribute the grease evenly, and then close the piston, and then Put a rubber ring with a suitable diameter on the groove of the plug core (cut a thin ring from a latex tube with a suitable diameter) to prevent the piston core from leaking due to loosening or falling off during operation. The loss caused the failure of the experiment.
3. When the separatory funnel needs to be dried, special attention should be paid to pull out the piston core and check whether the piston is clean and dry. If it does not meet the requirements, it can be used after washing and drying.
