Instructions for the Soxhlet Extractor

Apr 04, 2022

Soxhlet extractor, also known as fat extractor or fat extractor. The Soxhlet extractor is composed of three parts: an extraction bottle, an extraction tube and a condenser. There are siphon tubes and connecting tubes on both sides of the extraction tube. During extraction, wrap the sample to be tested in a degreased filter paper bag and put it into an extraction tube. Add petroleum ether into the extraction bottle, heat the extraction bottle, the petroleum ether is vaporized, rises from the connecting pipe into the condenser, and condenses into a liquid and drips into the extraction pipe to extract the lipids in the sample. When the petroleum ether liquid level in the extraction tube reaches a certain height, the petroleum ether dissolved with crude fat flows into the extraction bottle through the siphon tube. The petroleum ether flowing into the extraction bottle continues to be heated and vaporized, rises, condenses, drips into the extraction tube, and repeats this cycle until the extraction is complete.
